Patriot vs. 1776
Which do *you* like better? While 1776 has the great songs and humor, The Patriot has the battle scenes and Mel Gibson (which is kinda hard to beat ).

The self-proclaimed musical nut must confess that he has, in fact, never seen 1776.
The Patriot was pretty good, but I'm not sure I'd watch it a second time. That "church recruitment" scene made me want to puke, it was such a load of propagandistic rah-rah flag-waving hooey.

That whole movie (Patriot) made me. . .well, slightly amused, actually! Not in any way the makers intended, though.

I thought the Patriot was just stupid. It was so sentimental and simplicistic, IMO.

Patriot was just a hollywoodized make believe version of The Revolution. I have it on DVD but didn't really care for it too much.
I have seen 1776, both the movie and the play which I saw in New Brunswick NJ. I like 1776 - even if they did take artistic license with the signing of the Declaration. But it is a cool play/movie - much better than Patriot.

I'll have to agree with that. I liked the Patriot as a movie, but I give it an 'F' for accurasy. I do like Mel Gibson though.
IronParrot, you've never seen 1776?! It's my second favorite musical! (the 1st being Fiddler on the Roof.) |

I've never seen 1776 either. As of now there are very few musicals I can stand-but I'm not a musical person, really. But maybe I should see 1776. . .
