Re: NAMES
Sure. I have 3,817. Where shall I start?
(Actually, some of what I have is appropriated from various baby names websites, so I can't really just give it to you. You must, however, make absolutely certain that you have Elisabeth spelled with that crucial s. Here are some other good names that I have found: Eirlys---it's Welsh and means "snow fall"---I'm thinking of using for a roleplaying character Alona---"light" (Spanish, maybe related to Helen, but I'm making that up) Caitrin---"pure" (Irish/Scottish form of Catherine) Advielle---if this means anything, please let me know---a couple of my SWRPG players put their heads together and came up with this one for a character Ileana---"shining light" (Romanian form of Helen) I find this way too interesting. We should trade lists so I know what you've got. (Only I'm not so sure how well that would work because mine is Microsoft Works database file.) If you just want made-up names and care nothing about their meanings or origins, I could oblige with that, too. This is why people think I have too much free time. |

Re: NAMES
Elisabeth with an s is crucial. That's how mine is spelled.
It's Hebrew for "house of God" or "consecrated to God". I've always like Rosalie, Amberly, Anya, Melika, and Catrin for girls names. Guys... Jamis, Jeshua, Joshua, Rian, Hamish, Robert, William, and Liam. |

Re: NAMES
Yay! It's nice to know that there are so many sensible people on this board!
(You probably haven't noticed, since I no longer use my initials, but Elisabeth just happens to be my middle name. ) |

Re: NAMES
I too am an Elizabeth, but with a "z". I wish it was with an "s".....I hate to write "z's" for some reason. My niece is Elisabeth with and "s". She was born in France, hence the spelling. I like to think that Elbereth is a form of Elizabeth.

Re: NAMES
Karolissa is a name I made up to use if I ever had a little girl. It's a combination of my 2 best friend's names.

Siobhan (gaelic - pronounced Shavonne) Branwen (welsh, i think) Montserrat (?) Hildegarde (germanic - i don't know why i think this is such a cool name!) Mumtaz (Indian) Andreea (with 2 e's - Slavic?) Ampritaz (?) Sveta (Russian - this may be an abbreviation/nickname) Nikola (no "i," either Greek or Russian, can't remember) Annika (?) Zoltan (Hungarian) Cawti (variation on Hungarian) Vladimir (i'm sure you have this one already, but i'm suggesting it anyway) Amadeus (Germanic) Atahualpa (Inca) i'm sure i can think of more... Re: NAMES
Sveta is a shortened form of Svetlana; I've always loved this name, along with Tatiana... But I didn't have the nerve to saddle my kids with Russian names. Another Russian name I love is Dmitri.
I think Nikola must be Greek; the Russian form is Nikolai. I used to know a Nikola, but I think he was Italian. One of my roommates at university was a student teacher and she had a student named Danieli. |
