mods?
how do you become a moderator? I've been wondering for awhile about the whole mod stuff because I've seen some mod's that only have five hundred post so it can't be decided on post count and I don't think it'll be how long you've stayed here either?
so tell me How do you become a Mod?!?!?!?

Well, asking to be a mod or how to be a mod automatically disqualifies you .
Whenever we feel we need more moderators, we will select one or more from the Entmoot population. This could be due to the departure of a staff member, or perhaps an increase in traffic. We look for someone who has shown dedication to the board, is reliable, and has the time to spend as a moderator. Having been here a long time is a plus, since that person is very familiar with the board and is unlikely to just disappear. A relatively high post count (within the context of a user's stay here) is good, but just to show that the person isn't a lurker. Obviously post count can't be a major factor, or else mod-wannabes would be encouraged to spam. We also look for people with good attitudes, who follow the rules, and are helpful. If the person has access to an instant messaging service (AIM, ICQ, or MSN), that's preferable because we can stay in contact. Sometimes moderators are chosen for a particular forum and are not subject to all of these suggestions: for example, hama is moderator of the One Ring Musical Forum because it's his musical, and we've given him a forum here. In the summer, after Darth Tater resigned as admin, we had a moderator application. Khamul was selected, and is now a moderator for the whole board. Later, Earniel was made mod of the RPG forum because of her involvement there. We are actually considering doing another application process in the near future, what do you guys think? In terms of numbers, I'd think the strongest candidates would have at least 500 posts and 5 months posting experience on Entmoot.

Yah, BoP would be a good mod.
I probably get knocked out too since I haven't been here five months and don't have 500 posts.

If you are thinking that all the mods and admins have made 60,000 posts, dont be silly. I set them that way to discourage members from posting spam to get the highest post count and/or pass admins (once the admins were unpassable). It was a stupid idea, I should change it back. You can tell how many posts an admin has made since i did that several months ago (me, only 222). Although those totals are fake, most admins have several thousand posts.

I have no idea what my post count is.

I don't care whether you change them back or not. I think that the post count is a cool way to know how many posts you've done here but you shouldn't spam to get it up.
