If anyone read White Dwarf i thought it would be like that. Mucho disapointedo

I didn't notice Gimli's axe being small. Any bigger and the little guy wouldn't be able to lift it.

I thought his axe was a perfect size. It complimented his size and costume.

Agreed with samwise and Dolonlotiel. Welcome to the Moot!

A moral of the whole (after the primary symbolism of the Ring, as the will to mere power, seeking to make itself objective by physical force and mechanism, and so also inevitably by lies) is the obvious one that without the high and noble the simple and vulgar is utterly mean; and without the simple and ordinary the noble and heroic is meaningless." Pffft.
Any of you ever used a battle axe before? With a haft that long, the head has to be single bladed, and hollowed so that you can pull it back after a stroke. Those big double bladed crab openers you guys are thinking about are just that. They were used two handed, and mostly like a pole arm. The only time you swing one of those is after someone is down on the ground and you need to open up their plate armor. They don't even work well chopping through doors. The axe you see Gimli using is a quite accurate replica of a common battle axe. The only complaint I have is that they didn't give him a bearded axe, which is the one that has the blade run down to the haft and attach by a second point, giving you a much longer edge, but a shorter haft (less reach).

Does forging an axehead count as research?
(riveting sucks. I will never try to make chainmail again either. But scalemail is harder on your thumb).
