Big scoop at BAFTA
Well done FOTR at the British BAFTA awards
best pic best director best other thingy award wotsit Britain shows the way. PJ seemed sincerely surprised to take it ahead of Ron Howard and Co. What was the highlight? Replay Harvey Keitel announcing the Best Picture and asthe camera cuts away he screws up his nose, scowls and visibly says...'whaaaaaat.' O pass me the Old Winyard I'm going to make a nite of it..... |

Freakiest bit was VAnessa Regrave and that old women.
VR just went on and on and was not funny in the slightest while the old girl holding the award looked like she was on drugs. Also, top marks to Jennifer Connolly who I've fancied since Labyrinth - close up of her not getting a joke that everyone else seemed to find very funny YAY! Glad it did so well |

Hmmm what I saw was obviously neither live nor the full awards ceremony.
Apparently FotR won FIVE awards, not the 3 that were shown. More details at: http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=11579 Last edited by Gerbil : 02-24-2002 at 08:46 PM. |

Actually I think they have some sort of technical awards held in some chip shop in the Balls Pond Road for the BC and D list.

Yes, the British critics are definitely showing the way, mind you I'm sure they would like to influence Sir Ian McKellen's nod for an Oscar in March.....I hope the old *edit* wins one for the LoTR underdogs! Congrats to PJ for Best Film & Dir, I hope he can live up to all the praise with the next 2 films.
Anyway, you need people of INTELLIGENCE at these Award thingies.....(that counts out Russell Crowe's mathematics 'tard....)

What i dont get is how Fellowship didn't win the best adapted screenplay. That went to Shrek. You know the film that adapted the kids tale about a shy ogre into a movie about a belching farting WWF wrestling Scottish ogre who has a sidekick like Eddie Murphy in 48 Hours and is followed around by gangsta rap loving pigs. O yeah that adaption.

Go Lord of the Rings!!!
The only really annoying thing was that the guy didnt mention Orlando Bloom when he thanked the cast!!! How rude! Orlando was so cute with that hairstlye! Can anyone tell me who that girl was with Dominic Mon? She broke my heart, sitting with my Merry! Oh well. It was still really good.

Shame it did so well. Must be something to do with it's action/horror/tech-fest-movie based target audience with no specific interest in faithful rendering. Deserved it for the effects though...
Also a pity Harry Potter didn't get more. |

Agburanar - playing 'suck up to the moderators' are we?
Remind me again why you are in this forum? Presumably to keep an unbiased point of view available to counteract the wild fandom that exists regarding the film? And that guy DID thank Orlando Bloom etc - the next time FotR picked up an award he made some comment about forgetting to thank half the cast and then did thank the ones he'd missed out. I wouldn't have minded except he remembed LT in the first batch |
